The exhibition explores the largely forgotten history of the postcard, which goes back to the late 19th century when it was introduced as ‘the new folk art'. Between 1900 and 1914, a time in which modern photography was still in its infancy and surrealism had yet to be discovered - not to mention the computer and Photoshop - the ‘real photo' postcard became an absolute rage. Aeroplanes, zeppelins and Eiffel Towers appealed to people's imagination, as did the universe and man's new discoveries about nature.
The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive programme of activities for both young and old.
