In HAL 6, the Kunsthal’s display window, seventeen original drawings by illustrator Charlotte Dematons are on view, accompanied by texts by Arthur Japin. This presentation marks the publication of a new 'Gouden Boekje' (Little Golden Book) created on the occasion of the departure of Ed Wubbe, who served as Artistic Director of Scapino Ballet Rotterdam for an impressive thirty-two years.
In Scapino – The Escape Artist, writer Arthur Japin and illustrator Charlotte Dematons jointly tell the story of Scapino: a character from the Commedia dell’Arte who, through dance and storytelling, provides commentary on performances. In the book, Scapino is presented as a true escape artist and as an inspiring example for creative children to follow their own path.

The exhibition at Kunsthal is a collaboration between Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Rubinstein Publishing and Kunsthal Rotterdam.
