The book ‘Tandheelkunde in de prentkunst’ (Dentistry in Print Art) by Dr G.J. Schade serves as the leitmotif for the exhibition. The unique collection depicts the way in which dentistry was seen between 1470 and 1870, from hilarious to grotesque. The compilation includes everything from salons and market scenes to cartoons showing outdoor treatment sessions. Together with the prints, dental paraphernalia such as pliers, syringes and tooth keys from various periods shed an extraordinary light on the subject of dentistry through the eyes of artists and designers.
