Video series Metamorphosis

METAMORPHOSIS
In the exhibition Metamorphosis, you will meet hybrids between humans and animals; furry, friendly creatures embracing each other, and fascinating creatures you have never seen before but somehow still recognise.
THE COUPLE
In this video, Piccinini talks about how the book Frankenstein inspired this work. She explains that empathy is a big driving force in her work and therefore hopes people can empathize with the creatures she creates.
SANCTUARY
In the work Sanctuary, you see two chimeras: a cross between a human and a bonobo (ape). Love and sexuality are central to this, but often, we as humans link this to being 'young'. In Sanctuary, Piccinini shows that love, empathy and intimacy continue to play a major role in our lives, even through the years.
THE FIELD
About The Field, Piccinini tells of the environment of a world just outside the one we live in. The Field is a space that contains hard, white "plants," which at the same time serve as a context for the other sculptures that stand in the same space.
