The We Are Animals PETCAST is now available to listen online! As soon as we are allowed to reopen, you will be able to discover the animal kingdom of art at the Kunsthal. Over thirty contemporary artists explore the way in which us humans feel drawn to animals, while simultaneously showing the downside of this attraction. An exciting exhibition that forces us to look in the mirror. The language of this podcast is Dutch.

Especially for the Kunsthal, podcast maker Dide Vonk set off to interview experts about the relationship between humans and animals. Why do we think animals are cute or funny? What are the origins of fables and myths in which animals are endowed with human traits? Why is the wolf currently making a gradual comeback to this country? And where does the human fascination for wild nature come from? You can hear about this, and much, much more during the three-episode podcast.

Episode 1: Wild animals with Natascha Hokke

This first episode features ranger Natascha Hokke who, among other things, will explain about the habitat of the wild wolf, an animal that is slowly, but surely returning to the Netherlands.

Episode 2: Cute animals with Maarten Reesink

In the second episode of this podcast, Dide Vonk talks to media sociologist and animal-human scientist Maarten Reesink about cute animals. As humans, we like to surround ourselves with cuddly creatures, but what exactly does cuteness mean? And why do we have pets?

Episode 3: Say it with animals with Elfie Tromp

In this episode Dide Vonk talks to writer, poet and performer Elfie Tromp. She grew up among Afghan hounds on a dog farm. What is that like and how did her childhood influence her writing? Elfie and Dide also talk about fables and myths, in which we have attributed our human characteristics to animals for centuries.
