Between 1 and 11 June, the city of Rotterdam will be all about LGBTQIA+ emancipation, equality, and acceptance during Rotterdam Pride. On Thursday 1 June, the official opening of Rotterdam Pride will take place at the Kunsthal. The evening will feature spoken word performances and a pride talk about Queer masculinity, and will be festively concluded with a ballroom showcase + afterparty entitled ‘Under My Umbrella’.
Rotterdam Pride will be opened with a spoken word by Luis Bracamontes of Unwanted Words, a pride talk about Queer masculinity with Giovanni Maisto Ferreira, Bappie Kortram and Dexter led by Nychenda Fecunda and ofcourse, some drinks. The night will end with a ballroom showcase + afterparty ‘Under My Umbrella’ by people from the Dutch ballroom scene.
During the pride talk about queer masculinity, we will discuss how to adopt and spread a healthy form of masculinity. How does toxic masculinity affect the Queer community? And how do you break social patterns as a Queer person? During the talk, Giovanni will also show their film Touch’M about their personal search for the power in (healthy) masculinity.
