Lecture Will Gompertz: ‘SEE WHAT YOU’RE MISSING’
25 March, 2023 11:00 - 12:00
On Saturday 25 March, you will be able to get inside the mind of the artist! The well-known art expert Will Gompertz will then be launching his new book Je weet niet wat je ziet (published in English as See What You're Missing) at the Kunsthal. During his lecture (in English) in the Auditorium, Gompertz will help you discover the unique way in which artists look at the world. In his signature enthusiastic style, Gompertz will, for instance, explain how Frida Kahlo portrayed pain, how John Constable observed clouds, and how David Hockney teaches us to notice colours in nature.
Will Gompertz is a leading expert on the arts. After working for seven years as director of Tate Gallery and 11 years as BBC arts editor, he is now director of the Barbican, a renowned art centre in London. The magazine Creativity ranks him as one of the fifty most original thinkers in the world. Gompertz has written two international bestsellers: What Are You Looking At? and Think Like an Artist. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
