In Search of Humanity LAB
13 November, 2023 - 3 March, 2024
Families and children can be creative every day in the KunsthalLAB. The themes of the assignments change and are related to the exhibitions. This time, the lab is dedicated to the exhibition Ai Weiwei. In Search of Humanity.
Through his artworks, the Chinese artist and human rights activist Ai Weiwei tells us about his life and how he sees the world. All of his artworks tackle important issues and he wants to make you think about these as well. Whether large or smal, what are you able to do?
In this LAB we are asking you to think about which small activities you might undertake to make the world just a little more humane. Surprise someone you do not (yet) know with a postcard, make a drawing of your wish and send it out tinto the real world, make a cheerful gesture, or use LEGO bricks as stamps to create a portrait of someone who, in your view, is making the world a better place.
When?
Every day, during the opening hours of the Kunsthal.
What?
In the KunsthalLAB, everyone can work on their own everyday. The themes of the activities change according to the exhibitions. This time, the lab is dedicated to the exhibition Ai Weiwei. In Search of Humanity.
For who?
For everyone, of all ages.
Where?
At the KunsthalLAB, halfway up the ramp in the Auditorium.
Ai Weiwei. In Search of Humanity
Kunsthal Rotterdam is proud to present a large-scale exhibition by one of today’s most prominent artists, the activist, and critic of authoritarian power systems Ai Weiwei. In Search of Humanity is his most comprehensive retrospective to date. Including paintings, cultural ready-mades, works made from LEGO bricks, sculptures, installations, photography, and video works, the exhibition presents an impressive overview of Ai Weiwei's over-four-decades-spanning career and features key works from all his different creative periods.
