Come to the Hyper Weekend during National Museum Week to find out more about hyperrealism and the degree to which human beings can be manipulated! On Saturday 14 April the focus lies on reflection and inspiration and on Sunday 15 April the Kunsthal FAMILY day offers fun activities for both young and old.
Programme Saturday 14 April
Who is Afraid of the Perfect Human Being? - Lecture
Professor Maartje Schermer, PhD, will give a presentation on the ethics of human augmentation. Genetic manipulation, plastic surgery and biotechnology are all techniques that enable us to alter humans and their surroundings. How far should we – and are we allowed to – take human augmentation?
Special Tour*
To what degree can humans be manipulated? Plastic surgeon Xander Smit takes visitors on a tour of the exhibition ‘Hyperrealism Sculpture’!
Workshops
Get busy at the KunsthalLAB and create a hyperrealist image of yourself.
Guided Tours*
Stand face to face with the – occasionally extremely lifelike – sculptures in the exhibition Hyperrealism Sculpture. With the help of a guide visitors can find out more about the work of artists such as Ron Mueck, Sam Jinks, Evan Penny and Maurizio Cattelan.
Spoken Word
The word artists Y.M.P, Yasmin Rustom, Vieira N’kosi & Patrick Ribeiro from production house Flow and Sprakuhloos use their stories to take visitors on a journey. Experience the exhibition from a different perspective!
Still Life: Ron Mueck at Work
The Saturday programme is rounded off at the Auditorium with a screening of the documentary ‘Still Life: Ron Mueck at Work’. The French film maker Gautier Deblonde captured the working process of the Australian artist Ron Mueck, with unique footage of his studio.
