5 October, 2024 - 9 February, 2025

In collaboration with BKOR (Visual Arts & Public Space) in Rotterdam, there is the art route from Price to Price. This walk along public art in the centre of Rotterdam takes you from the sculpture ‘Reaching Out’ (2020), which, from the Kunsthal, almost waves off the visitors of the Thomas J Price exhibition Matter of Place, to his sculpture ‘Moments Contained’ (2022) at Stationsplein. Or take the route the other way around: starting at Stationsplein and heading towards the Kunsthal.

In his sculptures, Price is concerned with recognition in today's society and confronts us with stereotypes surrounding representation and identity in traditional statues, such as those on this route. This art historical journey through time shows how diverse the views of artists on the human figure have been and how they played with visual languages to give the viewer some 'mental homework'.

What

From Price to Price, a route along art in public spaces.

Where

The route begins at the sculpture ‘Reaching Out,’ which is temporarily on display in front of the Kunsthal during the exhibition, and leads to the much-discussed ‘Moments Contained’ at Stationsplein. Of course, the route can also be walked in the opposite direction, from Stationsplein to the Kunsthal.

When

The route can always be followed independently. You can find the route here or in the booklet available for free at the Kunsthal, Rotterdam Tourist Info at Central Station, or the Nationale-Nederlanden Café.

At certain times, the route can also be walked with a guide. The dates for these tours will be announced on this page soon.
