Every third Friday of the month, you're welcome at the Kunsthal for an exciting and inspiring programme infused with a generous dose of art. All exhibitions are open until 22:00 hrs and each edition is curated by a different Rotterdam-based partner. On Friday 16 May, Theatre festival de Parade will be pulling the strings!
Known for its quirky mix of theatre, music, dance, and visual arts, Theatre festival de Parade has been a travelling spectacle for over thirty years. From intimate performances in cosy theatre tents to spinning through the air in the classic swing ride — Rotterdam has been a regular Parade stop for years. And this summer, from 20 to 29 June, the festival will once again settle in among the trees and museums of the beloved Museumpark.
At Friday Night LIVE, De Parade is bringing a taste of summer to the Kunsthal. Expect an evening full of sneak previews from the 2025 programme — a flavour-packed selection of performances, makers, and moments of wonder, served straight from the Parade kitchen. Whether you're here to dance, wander, or just be surprised: the Parade summer starts now, and you’re invited.
Bites en drinks
During Friday Night LIVE, the tastiest bites are back on the menu, or you can order your favourite cocktail at de Cocktailfiets (Cocktail Bicycle)! And are you coming to the Kunsthal with your Friday Night LIVE ticket between 17:00 and 19:00 hrs? Then a complimentary welcome drink (wine, beer, or soda) will be waiting for you!
Programme
155
Throw New Kids, Jackass, and a hefty dose of breakdance in a blender and you’ll get dance collective 155. A crew of creative adrenaline junkies serves up a high-speed compilation show packed with stunts, physical comedy, and hardcore moves. Think: the greatest hits from their stage repertoire, cut into an ADHD-friendly remix. Bonus: there's a chance of a real motorcycle on stage. Or not. Only one way to find out: come see for yourself.

DIENKE GROENHOUT & DE MAAKFABRIEK – 'En God zag dat het bijna goed was' (And God Saw That It Was Almost Good)
A sneak peek of a performance where creation gets a reboot. Because how good was it really, the first time around? It all begins with cell division — right in the middle of the Kunsthal — and evolves into something new. Something better? Catch the full show at the Parade this summer, but here’s your early taste, featuring performers Petra Vossenberg and João Gouveia.

Gerald Olthaar
Gerard Olthaar — aka G — has performed with De Stijle, Want…, De Roadies, Alibi Collectief, Waterhuis, Siberia, T & G, De Boomgroep, Medea, and Effe Kijke. These days he’s flying solo. His style? Absurdist and bone-dry. During Friday Night LIVE, Gerard will surprise you with a one-of-a-kind performance mix. Where in the Kunsthal? You’ll have to find him yourself.

Sam Cruden aka msccruden
Clothilde, Alexandra, Sandra, Sam — one name just doesn’t cut it for msccruden. She flows between identities, disciplines, and dance floors. Raised in Rotterdam with roots in Suriname, she’s crafted a unique style at the crossroads of music, fashion, and performance. As the founder of clubCME (formerly CLUBKEY), she unites generations on the dance floor, championing a bold “no-nonsense fashion meets music” vibe.
At Friday Night LIVE, msccruden will get you moving and teach you how to Pop the Fan — a tribute to fan-flipping finesse: the art of snapping, waving, clapping, and most importantly… making it pop.

Snoepmeisjes
You can’t miss the Snoepmeisjes at the Parade — and they’ll be kicking off Friday Night LIVE too. Behind the decks, they’ll treat you to a sweet mix of sugary tunes and old-school feelgood. On their iconic roller skates, they’ll glide through the building handing out smiles, dance moves, and maybe… candy.

Dieneke Groenhout & de Maakfabriek - FERENGI
Step into the skin of a bright blue inflatable alien and explore the building — or just kick back in the mothership. This crowd favorite from two years ago is making a comeback! Expect playfulness, surreal vibes, and a touch of intergalactic comfort.
