Artist Talk Thomas J Price

Join us on Sunday, October 6th, for an Artist Talk with Thomas J Price, one of the most important contemporary British artists. With his subtle yet powerful works in a variety of media, including sculpture, performance, photography, and animation, Price is constantly stretching the boundaries of materials, scale, and presentation. He focuses on themes like representation, identity, and the impact of power in society.

Matter of Place is the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands and presents a diverse selection of work spanning Price’s twenty year career. The exhibition includes his video documentation of the performance Licked (2001), which shows him licking a gallery wall over the course of three days. Although to date this remains Price’s only performance piece, it continues to have a major impact on his multidisciplinary work and way of thinking. At the Kunsthal, all disciplines from his oeuvre are present, including the photographic work ‘Hand Arrangement (The Complex Journeys of a Simple Form)’ (2023), and the more recent abstract painting ‘Momentary Interface’ (2022).
