On Sunday 21 July the Kunsthal LIVE on Sunday podium will host the one and only Portuguese-Rotterdam vocalist Magda Mendes, but before she takes the stage you can enjoy the magnetic sound of singer-songwriter Poliana Vieira.
Born and bred in Lisbon, Magda Mendes’ roots form the fibre of her music. She has previously introduced the city to the typical Portuguese sound with the programme ‘Silencio! The fado is wandering through Rotterdam’. Her new album ‘Oliveiras’ gives expression to the multi-layered but often forgotten stories that unfold in the Portuguese countryside. In 2018 the Portuguese-Rotterdam vocalist received the Golden Nutcracker, an award for and by musicians. On Sunday 21 July she will be playing her new programme with a live brand augmented for this occasion with a brass quintet.
Supporting act
Poliana Vieira, a singer-songwriter who finds her sources of inspiration in soul & jazz, R&B and world pop, will perform this Sunday in the Museumpark. The first single “His Love is Worth” from Poliana’s debut album MOODS made her Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent. Poliana Vieira has previously provided the supporting act for such well-known names as Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103) and Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones). You can enjoy her magnetic sound at Kunsthal LIVE on Sunday.
DJ MF Andrade will provide the warm summer vibes this Sunday with his personal musical choice. Storyteller and presenter Sonya Dias will be our open-hearted hostess.

Special Tours
Every Sunday at 14:15 hrs you can take a tour of the exhibition ‘Sweet Dreams’ as seen through the eyes of real Rotterdam influencers. During this special tour – in collaboration with the HipHopHuis – you can discover their passion for hip-hop and streetwear. This time it is not the work in the exhibition that is the centre of attention – although of course you can take a good look at it as well – but the personal story of the duo.
There’s more: the All you can Art artists will be waiting in their outdoor mobile workshop every Sunday to bring out the artist in you. And you can discover nature in the Museumpark with an urban biologist from the Natural History Museum.
Kids
The festival warms up every Sunday from 12:00 hrs with a Silent Disco. And children and families can spend a whole afternoon having the time of their lives as Treasure Hunters in and around the Kunsthal building.
