Kunsthal Rotterdam is very pleased to announce the appointment of Renée Jongejan as
its business director, starting her tenure on 1 October 2023. Together with general
director Marianne Splint she will comprise the board and management of the Kunsthal.
Renée Jongejan will be responsible for optimising the Kunsthal’s operational management and for further commercially expanding its cultural entrepreneurship, something the institute has already been fulfilling an exemplary role in for years within its field.
Jongejan previously worked as business director at Mauritshuis in The Hague. She has also been interim deputy director at Frans Hals Museum & De Hallen in Haarlem, as well as business director at de Appel Arts Centre in Amsterdam. Earlier in her career, Jongejan was responsible for, among other things, communication and programming at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam and worked as head of marketing and publicity at the theatre company Toneelgroep Amsterdam (now ITA).
Baharak Sabourian, chair of Kunsthal Rotterdam’s supervisory board: “We are looking forward to collaborating with Renée Jongejan. With her ample organisational and managerial experience, as well as her knowledge and personality, she is the right person for perpetuating the success of the Kunsthal and keeping the institute future proof.”
General director Marianne Splint is eagerly anticipating the opportunities this new collaboration will present: “The wide knowledge and experience Renée Jongejan will bring to the table, combined with her vibrant personality and expansive network, will make a positive contribution to the ambitions of the Kunsthal.”
Renée Jongejan is excited to start in her new position: “The Kunsthal is one of the most prominent and inspiring venues in the Netherlands because of its unique architecture, extremely diverse programming, and entrepreneurial attitude. I consider it a great honour and challenge to have been given the opportunity to help realise the further growth of this dynamic organisation.”
